Our mission: caught up, kept current
Millions of people are behind on their federal taxes, and many of them are stuck for one reason: they haven’t filed. Until they do, the IRS’s easiest options stay locked, penalties keep growing, and the help on offer is often expensive, slow or sold through fear.
We started ScrubJay to fix that. Our job is to get people caught up on their missing returns, resolve what they owe the way the IRS actually allows, and then keep them current, so they don’t end up back where they started.
Why a scrub-jay
Scrub-jays are small blue birds known for something unusual: they hide food to eat later, then remember what they hid, where they hid it, and how long ago. Scientists have studied that memory for decades.
That’s the job here. Taxes go wrong when records go missing and deadlines slip past. A good tax partner keeps track of every year, every letter and every date, so you don’t have to carry it all in your head.
Our mark is a scrub-jay whose body forms a check mark. It’s a bird, not a person, on purpose: our assistant is software, and we say so.
How we work
- Published prices. You can see what we charge before you give us a phone number.
- Software does the legwork. It answers questions, gathers your IRS records and organizes the work.
- Licensed people sign the work. A PTIN-holding preparer signs every return. An Enrolled Agent signs every resolution and speaks to the IRS.
- Honest about the IRS. We tell you what the IRS decides, how long it takes, and when you can do it yourself.
- No outcome promises. No “pennies on the dollar,” no countdown timers, no sales calls.
