Talk to a person

You can ask for a person at any time, in chat or by calling [PHONE NUMBER] ([HOURS]). If a levy is active or you have a deadline-driven IRS letter, call rather than chatting: a person takes those cases from the first contact.

Most people never need a call to get started, and that’s by design. When you do want a person, you’ll get one.

How to reach us

  • Phone: [PHONE NUMBER], [HOURS]
  • In the app: ask the ScrubJay assistant for a person, or book a call with a preparer or Enrolled Agent.
  • Email: [SUPPORT EMAIL]

When a person takes over right away

The ScrubJay assistant hands you to a person immediately if:

  • a levy is active on your wages or bank account
  • you’ve received a final notice of intent to levy (LT11 or Letter 1058) or a Notice of Deficiency (CP3219N)
  • you mention a criminal investigation, a bankruptcy, or a taxpayer who has died
  • the case involves business payroll taxes
  • you ask for a person

Some of these, like criminal investigations and bankruptcy, are outside what we handle. We’ll tell you plainly and point you to the right kind of help, such as a tax attorney.

Calls and texts from us

We call or text you only if you’ve agreed to it, and only about your case. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP. See our call and text consent.
