How ScrubJay works
ScrubJay pulls your IRS records with your approval, files every missing return, then an Enrolled Agent sets up the best available way to resolve what you owe. Software does the legwork; licensed people sign everything that reaches the IRS.

Who does what
ScrubJay software
Fast, tireless, and always labeled as AI

- Walks you through approving our access in your IRS Online Account
- Pulls and reads your IRS records to find every missing year

Licensed people
Accountable for every return and every IRS submission
- A PTIN-holding preparer prepares and signs every return
- An Enrolled Agent chooses your resolution, signs it and speaks to the IRS
- A person takes over whenever you ask, and right away if a levy is active
- An expert reviews every guide on this site, and we name them
What we don’t do
- We don’t promise any IRS outcome. The IRS decides.
- We don’t make sales calls or pay commissions.
- We don’t hold your money. You pay the IRS directly.
- We don’t prepare business or payroll tax returns yet.
- If there’s a criminal investigation or a bankruptcy, we refer you to an attorney.
Common questions
Do I have to talk to anyone?
Not unless you want to. You can take the estimate, sign up and follow your case in the app. You can ask for a person at any time.
How long does it take?
The estimate takes minutes. Returns for the last three years can be e-filed and usually take weeks. Older years go on paper, and the IRS can take months to post them.
What if I can’t pay what I owe?
Once your returns are filed, an Enrolled Agent weighs options such as a payment plan, Currently Not Collectible status or an Offer in Compromise. The IRS decides whether to approve each one.
Is an AI doing my taxes?
Software gathers your records and organizes the work, and it always identifies itself as AI. A licensed preparer signs every return, and an Enrolled Agent signs every resolution submitted to the IRS.
